A dream come true

Every Sunday around here is Filet mignon night. We also watch Huell Howser on PBS. There was an episode about the free range cows that still wander the property of Hearst Castle and how hard it is to find this beef. Julie went to Whole Foods tonight and found these marked with the Hearst ranch sign and got ‘em. I’ll let you know in a bit if they are as great as I hoped.

If you have a Whole Foods near you, try to find Hearst beef. It’s not the best I’ve had, but better than Costco filets and definitely in my top three.

Free range beef can be pretty gamey tasting. I prefer grain fed beef.

I couldn’t tell the difference but filets aren’t huge on flavor. We’ve been getting them at Whole Foods ever since Costco became a pita to get into. Costco’s were usually pretty amazing too.
