On to the Next Project
Quote from rvrrun on August 26, 2020, 8:35 pmThe bike is back apart for the last time and the big parts are at the powdercoater. Luckily, they had just enough of the gray I wanted in stock. I’m doing the small parts at home (my oven can’t fit the frame and larger parts). I had planned on doing all the small parts and brackets in satin black, but I had gloss so that’s what they’ll be.

Quote from rvrrun on August 27, 2020, 4:13 pmI could build one a lot cheaper if you want one. Rattle can paint it and buy an inexpensive bike to rob most of the parts from and it wouldn’t be too bad. Scott bought a new bike off the internet for about $300, then added the motor and battery. It does everything this one will do, just looks normal.

Quote from rvrrun on September 5, 2020, 4:21 pmAll parts are back from powder coat. The color isn’t as dark as I hoped, but I like it. I started the assembly, but we have a birthday and Labor Day this weekend plus going to the river next week so I’m not sure how much will get done. Now that everything is coated it takes a bit more time with assembly without scratching the parts.

Quote from rvrrun on September 7, 2020, 8:59 pmI finished up the last bit of wiring today, but this humidity is killing me. The bike is pretty much done except for bleeding the brakes and adjusting the shifter and I’m waiting on parts for that. I’ll call Dennis tomorrow and see when he can come down and stripe it.

Quote from rvrrun on September 10, 2020, 1:12 amFor the most part, it’s done. There are just minor adjustments and little things like painting the speedo magnet black to match the rim. I’m at the river this weekend so Dennis is coming the weekend after to do the silver leaf and stripes.

Quote from rvrrun on September 18, 2020, 5:34 pmDennis is coming to the shop tomorrow to do the stripes. I varied from my original rendering just a bit. The side of the tank will still have the engine turned silver leaf, but I taped the front fender and tank top. I was originally thinking about leaf on the fender, but that might be too much so I think it will be a fat black line and then a tiny yellow next to it. He may have different ideas completely, we’ll find out tomorrow.
